A5. When students feel heard and supported by peers and adults, they’re more likely to make positive choices and stand up for themselves. Strengthening their support network through peer mentorship, counseling, and consistent adult guidance builds trust and encourages growth. #teachered #safeschools
A4 They offer important teaching moments to help students build empathy, take responsibility, and learn how to resolve conflict in healthy ways. As a teacher, it’s a chance to model strong values and create a culture of respect. #teachered #safeschools
A3 my school has taken a proactive approach by implementing school-wide programs that teach students about kindness, empathy, and standing up for others. We also have a clear reporting system in place and take all concerns seriously, with staff following up quickly. #teachered #safeschools
A2 I regularly communicate with families through phone calls, emails, and conferences to keep them informed and involved in their child’s progress. I also meet with colleagues to share strategies, support student needs, and maintain consistent expectations across classrooms. #teachered #safeschools
A1 I create a safe learning environment by building relationships with my students and making sure they know they are respected, valued, and heard every day. My classroom setup promotes collaboration while clear expectations and consistent routines help students feel secure. #teachered #safeschools
A5 I use apps like ClassDojo and Remind to share daily updates, photos, and important reminders with families. It helps build trust and keeps parents informed and involved in their child’s progress without needing constant in-person meetings. #teachered #edtech
A4 Technology allows for more individualized instruction and efficient progress monitoring, which is a huge asset in special education. However, tech glitches and the need for constant troubleshooting can interrupt learning, so having backup plans is essential.#teachered #edtech
Sharing resources is so important!
A3 I regularly meet with general education teachers and related service providers to align goals and share strategies for student success. I also participate in online special education forums and webinars to learn from others and stay updated on best practices. #teachered #edtech
Agreed that training and prep is crucial!
A2 Some of my students struggle with navigating digital platforms due to reading or attention challenges. I simplify interfaces, use visual supports, and pair students with tech buddies or assign paraprofessionals to guide them during tech-based activities. #teachered #edtech
3D tours sound like a great way to engage students!
A1 I use interactive tools like Nearpod, BrainPOP, and Kahoot to make lessons more hands-on and visually engaging. These programs allow my students to participate in real time, which helps maintain their focus and gives me instant feedback on their understanding. #teachered #edtech

Q5: Sometimes I think our classrooms are misunderstood. I think as a school if we get more inclusive opportunities for our students, this will help. This can be done with clubs, etc. having behaviors isn’t a problem, we have to get over that stigma! #TeacherEd #SpEd
A5 - Schools and teachers can better support students with disabilities by prioritizing collaboration between general and special education staff. Policies should reflect flexibility and understanding of inclusion. #TeacherEd #SpEd
Tailoring responses from student to student is so important!

A4 #TeacherEd #SpEd I encourage all my students to speak up if they need help or they are not understanding a concept. I then tailor my response by what I know of that student: if they need another type of instruction or modeling, if they need more time, etc.
A4 - I teach my students to set goals and we practice how to ask for help or accommodations. By giving them a voice in their learning they start to take ownership of their progress. #TeacherEd #SpEd
A3 - I break down content into smaller steps and use a variety of visual, auditory, and hands-on strategies to match different learning styles. I also provide frequent check-ins to ensure students feel supported as they work through the material. #TeacherEd #SpEd
My classroom has a “calm corner” with wobbly stools and different chairs. Students can complete independent work there if preferred. I also have “comfy chairs” available to students in other areas of the classroom. Clear expectations and set routines help lower distractions

A2- Resources that I have for my students are that in my class I have two wobble chairs. That helps them get their energy out sometimes. We allow them to play with a fidget toy while on the carpet so they don’t distract their peers. We have the same routine in our class everyday. #TeacherEd #SpEd

#A1 #teachered #sped I have used similar fidget toys, allowing students to get up and stretch, take short walks with a classroom para, brain breaks during lessons, and I will be getting standing easels for my art room in the near future for those who can't sit the whole time.
A2 For students with ADHD, I allow frequent movement breaks, chunk assignments, and offer flexible seating to help with focus. I also checklists and visual aids to support organization #TeacherEd #SpEd
A1 - As a special education teacher I’ve learned the importance of building strong, trusting relationships and creating a consistent, structured environment. My goal is always to make the classroom a safe space where every student has the opportunity to grow. #TeacherEd #SpEd
