it seems like the answer is AWS CLI + IAM?

I have never encountered a more infuriating set of documentation than the AWS documentation for their SDKs.

yes, obviously I must configure the SDK. How the fuck do I do that. Linking to the parent reference document is not sufficient.

weirdly silent about ICE killing an unarmed woman in cold blood, surely there's no politics at play here
Violence is always unacceptable, and threats of violence have no place in public discourse. Our thoughts are with Charlie Kirk and his family.

oldhead advice from an oldhead.

every couple years, newcomers to the movement think "THIS is finally it, the moment when the dam breaks and the whole system is overthrown"

and when it doesn't happen they lose patience and get disillusioned and drop out of movement work

WELL NOW, would you look at that? A massive, 24-YEAR-LONG study of MORE THAN 1.2 MILLION people in Denmark found NO LINK between aluminum in childhood vaccines and autism, asthma, OR chronic disorders.

Aluminum is an ADJUVANT.

It ENHANCES your immune response to a vaccine.

That’s it.

how is the documentation for the AWS S3 SDK so bad.

the example in the package README doesn't work and they don't tell you how to get it to work. The website docs are insanely verbose and unclear.

insufferable.

some people do genuinely like it! I'm not debating that the point of this thread isn't to put a value judgement on that (we can do that elsewhere).

I am saying that you can't point to metrics of adoption that have been inflated at every possible opportunity and say they're proof of value.

if a tool is genuinely good, your manager shouldn't need to track your usage and reprimand you to use it a certain amount. it should be natural.

if a tool is genuinely good, your org shouldn't need to hit org-wide adoption metrics. it should be natural.
January 8, 2026 at 4:38 PM
developers at these companies are then individually tracked on their AI usage and mandated by managers to use it to a certain amount.

if you don't like it, you can very easily still hit the bullshit minimum metric and get your manager off your back about a tool that you don't feel is helpful.
January 8, 2026 at 4:38 PM
a huge part of manufactured consent around AI and code completion is being driven by the intersection of corporate mandates to use AI *and* sales targets for the AI companies.

AI company sales teams track and show org-wide adoption and actively work with the companies to increase that adoption.

Any one of us could be shot or kidnapped because an ICE agent doesn’t like the look of us. Are you prepared to be murdered in cold blood while β€œnews” sources repeat the claim you were β€œweaponizing your vehicle” trying to leave your driveway? They want you to accept that. They want to make it normal

AI brain worms destroying years of marketing and brand awareness.

It’s genuinely impressive to see Microsoft go from β€œMicrosoft ❀️ Linux” to whatever the fuck this is.
For context: Microsoft renamed Office. It isn't "Microsoft Office" anymore.

From now on, the suite is named "Microsoft 365 Copilot App".
