Imagine a world without vaccines but with the mobility of today!
A total of 64 cases were recorded. 53 confirmed and 11 probable. 45 people died.
Importantly 47000 people were vaccinated! A remarkable feat and a key piece that likely helped to stop the outbreak in it's tracks. Ebola is still deadly but we now have a vaccine to fight it.

I couldn’t stand it either but some good folk still use it in preference to Bluesky.
‘The cruelty, brutality and ugliness was having a profound emotional effect on me. It was making me unhappy, making me see humanity as something disgusting’

Here’s the story of why I left Twitter, and why the world is a happier and more beautiful place without it

3 days w/o water supply. We’ve got so soft since I grew up (b 1952). Bath & clothes wash once/wk. Boiling up water for washing hair & dishes. We must’ve smelled dreadful but so did everyone else & almost all adults smoked.

A vague question was asked to calm right wing Tories. Nobody knew what was involved. Only 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 in favour by tiny majority. (Wales changed its mind too late!)
A public inquiry on the management of Brexit would set the record straight, and maybe the BBC could run an impartial series for the 10th anniversary of the vote, making it easier for the government to show the courage and leadership to take us back into the EU.

Our local NHS is planning to start using it. My health records shared with dodgy private IT provider??
The government handed an NHS data contract to Palantir – a spy-tech firm with links to war crimes and deportations.

We’re demanding that the NHS stops using Palantir’s toxic tech.

Find out if your local NHS Trust is using the software and say no to Palantir 👇

First world problem. No water supply for 48 hours. Maybe there’s silver lining to post-Covid anosmia. I don’t like smelling my un-showered body.

When I started learning my mother was horrified. Though it was her own mother’s first language.
I feel exactly the same. Pains me greatly that i'm not bilingual when i should be. My father was a native speaker and it was his first language growing up. Sadly it was never passed on because people like him were brainwashed into thinking their own culture was 'backward'.

I’m astonished that the terraced house (2 up, 2 down & 2 in the middle) for £50k 40y ago could sell for £500k. We’re retired doctor and retired teacher. Not Middle England obviously (I’m a Scot in Kent)
For context the 'Middle England' referred to here is the 0.5% of households living in homes worth more than £2 million

Short sighted. A happy prosperous GREAT nation needs a healthy population.
96% of the highest-paid workers in the US have paid sick days.

Just 38% of the lowest-paid workers get them — including the thousands of retail workers working this holiday weekend.

Only in America do we call working people ‘essential’ but deny them paid sick leave.
