The vast body of research that Ken Burns relied upon to make his new documentary on the American Revolution would be practically impossible to be produced today, what with the defunding of humanistic scholarship, the collapse of stable academic jobs, the attack on public history & academic freedom.🗃️

Great idea! We love connections. Any takers in Germany?
If there any scholars (especially medievalists and early modernists) in Munich next year, who would like to connect and grab a coffee, let me know! :) #EarlyModern #MedievalSky #SkyStorians
The fellowship application I was writing while this went down just got accepted.

Next year, I will be working as a Scholar-in-Residence at the Deutsches Museum in Munich for several months, researching the "Arts of Early Modern Screwmaking."

On the merits of my project! 💪

Gossiping is both an art and an annoying practice. In #earlymodern Europe, a gossipmonger would often be depicted as a person with three mouths. Like these three fellas that made it on a title page of a pamphlet in 1605, a Turk, a Hungarian, and a German. #skystorians #gossip

History curious? You don't need to be in London (or the UK) to attend many Institute of Historical Research seminars, although if you're in Bloomsbury you'll enjoy doing so. Most are hybrid (online/in person). They're free, usually fortnightly and open to the public.

Starting this week:
