Budget cuts come for us all. My contract with Amtrak is not being renewed and it's up tomorrow.

I made my decision. Kyanite is a cool mineral & I'll always think fondly of my first #MinCup25 when I see it. Tugtupite is a newer mineral to #MinCup25, but kyanite has been fighting to win since 2017. Do I vote for the newbie's meteoric rise to fame or do we give kyanite it's due after so many failed attempts? Arg, this has started out as fun and has now gotten hard. Kidding, not kidding. Arg!

Last semifinal! It’s #Tugtupite for me! It’s got an Indigenous name for reindeer blood & as elsewhere, it’s:

tenebrescent, fluorescent in short & long wave UV & phosphorescent—from Greenland, it would go dim & mild during the long winters and then bright and intense during summer(!)
