Republicans have turned the USA into the kind of police state that Republicans always warned you America would become if you didn't vote for Republicans.
I'm beginning to think that placement of detention centers is going to seriously backfire on Republicans.

"ICE detention centers near you" breaks the magic information wall that "Bad stuff only happens in blue cities in other states" that right wing media relies on.
Apart from being objectively wrong it is politically naive from Republicans.

When you look at the two main classes of people who will be disenfranchised (women and non passport holders) by state it's not clear that Republicans aren't targeting their own voters out of a misplaced assumption that undocumented immigrants were voting.

All they are doing is maximizing the profits other countries will make supplying the technology.

You can't prove received wisdom wrong if you don't try... and you've got to give China credit for not being afraid to try. A step on the way to serious reduction of shipping emissions by 2050? Or an expensive experiment with niche coastal uses? Time will tell!

I have seen maps that show by passport and by married name mismatch, but no analysis of party line impact.
It seems entirely possible that this backfires on Republicans in many ways.
