"Mix with your ears, not your eyes" is timeless advice, but I'm still bad at it. But I've found a workaround: if there are a bunch of parameters I need to tweak, I just play the sound on a loop, map the parameters to a physical controller, and turn away from my screen while I tweak them.

Neat trick: if you use a spectral morph plugin (like Melda MMorph or Zynaptiq Morph) and sweep your carrier and modulator in opposite directions, it can make some fun sounds!
