Today I tried out "Cinny", an open-source, federated, end-to-end-encrypted Discord alternative. After about six minutes, it made a beeping sound which I could not trace back to any particular event or message which occurred. So as you can see they've already captured the Discord experience

The part of "everyone becomes a manager" in AI that I didn't really think about until now was the mental fatigue of context switching and keeping many tasks going at once, which of course is one of the hardest parts of being a manager and now you all get to enjoy it too

a nice thing about when the internet was a bunch of little sites and servers was that it was a lot harder for governments to pressure "the chat provider everyone uses" to implement age verification.

I think this is super interesting, matches all the qualitative interviews I've had with developers on this, and continues to show that we cannot evaluate the impact of tools on people with a metric of "production" alone. Psychological factors are always central!
