Viewed just now. CNN also pushing this misleading image planted in the Epstein propaganda files.

No correction by CNN.

Aloha Stadium in Honolulu is being torn down starting this week. Beyond lots of sporting events, huge concerts have happened there since the 1970s, pretty much every major act has done shows there.
On Thursday, the Aloha Stadium Authority held its final meeting inside the stadium, as work began last week to cut utilities and remove hazardous materials. ⬇

I feel guilty paying so little to watch this film but watch it I must, with BACARAU up next.

Kleber Mendonça Filho has has been awarded permanent placement on my “must-see-everything-this-filmmaker-has-directed“ list.

Incredibly powerful documentary on the genocide of Gaza, told primarily through the Facetime conversations of two women. See it.

I dunno. Surely others besides me also find this new name, “ampersand hashtag eight two one six semicolon Hawai’i ampersand hashtag eight two one seven,” to be a bit . . . much?

Great password, though.

By the way, the MR. SCORSESE documentary series streaming on—of all places—AppleTV+, turns out to be REALLY outstanding. Director Rebecca Miller deserves all praise.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

(I’ve always had an interest in Scorsese’s films but am sick and tired of the mafia crap, just won’t watch it anymore.)

Over 2hrs still to go, watching Apple’s much-hyped F1 movie and I’m like, nope.

I’m not gonna watch a movie so full of product/brand placements, it’s nonstop ads—from co’s largely responsible for global warming (hi, Aramco!). Screw this celebration of fossil fuel.

Tried, really tried, over two nights to watch Netflix’s WAKE UP DEAD MAN but could not find a reason to finish it.

Just struck me as a tired, ho-hum script riffing on Agatha Christie mysteries, played out with a boring cast, under nothing-special direction.

Meh.

Critics are on drugs here.

Seven years ago. Still not reality. If he posted this today, just think, maybe in another seven years it’d finally be true—except the car could drive itself from your home (if you still have one) to the place where you used to work before some AI-thingie took your job 🤷‍♂️

Hiking White Sands Nat’l Park yesterday in New Mexico. A magical, otherworldly place.

Those dunes? That isn’t sand. It’s gypsum. The whole desert is gypsum. It’s like being on another planet.

This is bizarre mid-December weather for Santa Fe, New Mexico.

October was downright warm, November was 50s-60s during the day, and now December is mild too. We should’ve had a foot of snow already.

@samfragoso.bsky.social Another superb TALK EASY episode. Just a great cinema conversation. Looking forward to listening to the Renata interview next, also the 1st Trier ep, plus, I’m sold, going to watch the Scorsese documentary too.

Sometimes one must make difficult choices. Sometimes the choice isn’t difficult at all; in such instances it’s simply the right thing to do.

Ah, sweet relief. At last, a chance for peace.

I tell you NOTHING in the world tops pouring all your energy into performing music and then people get up and dance. Even when the gig is a pizza/brewery joint out in the middle of nowhere. Everybody havin’ a good time and the music’s alive? Goodamn, nothing tops it.

Now back to doomscrolling 🤪

A great conversation. Fun to watch Krugman in real time realizing the breadth of the AI economics insanity. That said, for balance, I’d still love to see Kedrosky have a debate with a CTO-level person at one of the large AI companies. Or maybe a whole panel of such technical folks.
