This remains my favorite piece that I’ve ever written. I spilled more blood on the page here than ever before. Midnight Mass by @flanaganfilm.bsky.social had such a profound effect on me and in light of recent events, this piece seems more relevant than ever.

I’ve always loved film music and a large part of my appreciation for it is because of John Carpenter. I had the opportunity to champion some of my favorite underrated scores by the Prince of Darkness for @bloody-disgusting.com, and am still pinching myself about it.

Brian knows his shit, and it’s a lot of fun hearing him and Mike talk about Hitchcock.
Got to nerd out on Hitchcock for a bit with @mikesnoonian.bsky.social. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
This week we offer up something a little different.

With our coverage of Psycho kicking off next week, we thought it would be great to look at Hitchcock 1950s and how that informed his choice to make a little splatter film
