this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

Starting to panic about 2026 trash and recycling pickup. A new company is taking over for my borough starting January 1.

We're supposed to get new bins and only use those bins. No one has received their bins.

We haven't gotten any information in the mail.

Had a dream last night that was the usual mess, but at the end, I was watching a giant polar bear walk toward me, carrying a volcano like a snailshell on its back.

“Welp,” I said to the person next to me, “that’s either a god or a Pokemon.”

I'm happy I read as much as I did during November. I was very focused on writing so I expected to read less. Overall, I ended up reading about as much as most other months. I don't know how I managed that and I wish I did. Knowing that would make staying productive at more than one task as a time so much easier.

I played Guildenstern in a college presentation of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" and am certain I didn't do it justice, nevertheless happy to be able to speak the words. What a writer. RIP.

I got to 50,000 words written in November last evening. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to keep my writing streak going or give myself a break after such a big push.

Today's the day. I have to write 1,315 more words to reach 50,000 words written in the month of November!

Right? Like, solve for capitalism first, and then things will be free, instead of screwing over the folks who are also just trying to get by.
People who pirate books: “I just think art and literature should be FREE to everyone!”

Yes, I too would love to live in a world where art is accessible freely to all and yet artists are paid a living wage, but as this magical wagical pixie wixie land does not exist, please don’t steal from us.

If you would like to read my work but cannot afford to buy it or lack access to library resources for whatever reason, you can ask me for a copy. I'm pretty chill.

If you are a pirate as a personality trait, or because nobody's going to tell you what to do or whatever, I'm disappointed in you.

the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you

I wish migraines were easier to plan around. Will I be ready for business as usual if I nap all afternoon? Will it be gone tomorrow morning? Is it going to hit the 48 hour mark? I never have any idea what to expect!
