Highly recommend! Especially insightful, vulnerable, humourous, and terrifying, these collections taught me so much about horror and the way pop culture can inform and help process our personal narratives.
Hi new followers!
I am a culture writer and memoirist based in Kingston, Ontario. I write about music, film, tv, technology, games, mental illness, and the occult. My essay collections contain my entire essence: BE SCARED OF EVERYTHING, and HOW TO RESTORE A TIMELINE.
I hope we can be friends.

As a writer, I find Alan Wake 2 pretty relatable: guy writes a manuscript, sits down to it later and thinks "I have no recollection of writing this". Edits the shit out of it because "what kind of monster drafted this", has to fill in plot, add new characters, change the ending.

Wake Up Dead Man is in theatres and I've just realised how much I require more Benoit Blanc in my life.

Also more working class and work horror forever 🖤
If you have a day job, be proud of your hard work. If you have family support, thank your benefactors that make your life possible. If you're a genius at grants, share the knowledge.

I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

How To Restore a Timeline is a holiday story about violence and memory. It takes place on a special variant of December 27, 2006—one that never ends, overlapping and consuming all time that dares come after.
And I hear it makes a great gift, available everywhere you buy books.

One of the most disturbing books I have ever read (complimentary)! Do not miss this upcoming horror feast by @tiffmorris.bsky.social
out in March from Nictitating Books

“...delves deep into the horrors of toxic relationships. A masterful investigation of embodied trauma, class exploitation, and cultural colonialism, this all-meat story gives the reader plenty to chew on.”

Also the lushly unsettling 360 in The Green Knight that lives in my head rent-free.
Sometimes the most memorable scenes in movies are almost wordless, relying completely on visual storytelling and a swelling score. Here are five examples of perfect, dialogue-free moments:

The show Interview With The Vampire was very good, plus it had a trial episode. Louis got to be Blade as well, which was so cool I almost cried.

Writing a short story by hand in one go feels great. Is the story good? Who knows, but at least the whole arc and tone is there to tinker with for the next draft ❄️⛸️🐺
