Guardian on the left, NY Times on the right. Which one more directly conveys information and the stakes to the reader?

ICE ended up returning the man, Saly, after realizing he’s a fucking US citizen with no criminal record, per his sister-in-law. These fucking animals.

An entire pack of masked ICE thugs hold a man down and one knees him repeatedly in the face.

We must not tolerate this.

I don’t care what side of the aisle you fall on, this level of brutality is inexcusable.

Arnoldo Bazan, a 16-year-old U.S. citizen, was put in a chokehold by ICE agents.

Agents took his phone, which he tracked to a used electronics vending machine near an ICE detention center.

Yes: ICE is stealing and selling people’s things after brutalizing them. There are no words.

Senate Democrats absolutely have to shut the govt down to stop this ICE insanity in the Twin Cities. This is not sustainable & cannot be normalized. Any Democratic vote to provide money to the thugs who are brutalizing this community is a grave betrayal to the people here. Accountability can't wait.

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

Propagating the notion that ICE has occupied Minneapolis to "round up people many locals want to protect" and observing that "everyone is just mad" flies in the face of Trump's stated project of bringing "reckoning and retribution" to the state.
Sam Sifton of the New York Times would like us to see "both sides" of the occupation of a US city by violent thugs representing a fascist government, the leader of whom has threatened to bring a "retribution" to the city:

Another account of this rapid ICE surveillance:
I pulled up next to one at 10:17am yesterday an snapped a photo. By 10:27 the agents I photographed were in front of my house, along with another vehicle that met them there. It's a 10 minute drive from where I took the photo to my house - so they got the data *instantly*

Guys I think they're instantly getting DVS data.

Pulled up next to this guy on central going south in Columbia heights, followed him, they turned around, got on 694, crossed the river, and went straight to my house in Brooklyn center.

Democrats need to realize ICE isn’t just—or even primarily—a mass deportation force.

ICE is also Trump’s most loyal internal security force which will be used to attack regime opponents and try to steal the election. They should defund his authoritarian capabilities.
