Alice Trout moves mysteriously.
Sterry. Remember that? Sterilised milk. Came in those odd looking tall bottles that had a crown cork so you needed a bottle opener to get into it. My Nan used to get it delivered (horse drawn milk float). Disgusting stuff, especially in tea. By the way, horses aren't very good at drawing. It's hard

Hello, good evening, and what's the recipe today, Jim?

It's impossible to be frightened by or believe in the alleged horrors of hell once you've listened to Old Harry's Game.

Did they really trash a genuine Aston Martin and a genuine E-Type Jag in The Italian Job? Criminal if they did. Just criminal.

As a matter of fact I did go to the shops this morning, and I did see a Waymo as soon as I walked out onto the street, and would you Adam and Eve it, that's the only one I saw! It pulled into an apartment complex, went behind a building and almost immediately came back out, so I couldn't tell if it

Whenever I take a walk to the shops (under 10 minutes) I'm certain to see five or six of these with no-one in them. No passenger, no driver. I think they must use the roads in this part of town to circle around waiting for a fare. Next time I go I'll see if I can spot the same number plates.

It's a bit parky out there this morning.

I didn't get where I am today without doing some smart things and some stupid things, without some good fortune and some bad fortune. But mostly I just got here, somehow.

Ow, that made my brane hert.

There was some yeast in that Hibernation. I didn't realise until it had gone into me gob and I saw the last bits in the bottom of the glass.

I learned a new thing. If you want to stop your bananas ripening too quickly, one way is to wrap the stalk in cling film. That's where most of the ethylene gas comes from, allegedly. It means you have to separate them all, but I tried it with the bunch I bought last week and think it works. The last

It's getting a mite chilly outside. The forecast low for tonight is around 6 °C, so borderline bringing the plants in sort of temperature. I have brought the three Christmas cacti in though, and put them on the mantelpiece. I'm taking a chance here. All three have flowerbuds and I remember learning

Know what I hate most about the 80s, apart from Thatcher and a lot of other things related to that? Jackets with the sleeves rolled up. Where the hell did that come from and why did it stick around? Just horrible.

Why can't I bloody well type properly any more and why can't I remember to proof every post before I bloody well send it?

I'm 83 years old you know!

Stage one of the Christmas pudding build is complete, mostly. It's a recipe from an old cookbook that came with a Leisure gas cooker, looks like the 1960s, which I probably picked up in Manchester junk shop 45 plus years ago. The book, not the cooker, obviously. It calls for the mixture to be made
