Still in the oven, but I can add bagels to the baking resume.

Putting the dough together was tough because the hydration was below 60% and the patience of waiting for the sourdough starter to fully activate for bulk was key.
Love being a well of sourdough info for my students and staff.
Phil’s Cookie Fondo this weekend! I’m riding the Chocolate Chop route and cannot wait to climb Encinal Canyon- a first!
Used to loathe riding in cold weather. Now I appreciate it.

it’s honestly just crazy to me that so many drivers simply choose not to use blinkers when turning

it literally takes the tiniest bit of effort and has the benefit of making yourself and everyone around you safer.

like, why wouldn’t you use them? that’s what they’re there for!
One of my former 9th graders (now a senior) stopped by to say hello and ask about her freshman letter… then she was posting for photos with my current 9th graders because apparently she’s viral? Whatever that means. They all “know” her. Again- whatever that means.
I watched Chappell Roan at Coachella 2023 and the rise of her project ever since has been meteoric.

Seeing her Saturday and I am so excited for the chance!
My mom fails to review what’s on the ballot and simply checks the boxes that are advertised on the media she chooses.

I attempt to share my pov but she will do what she will do.

Yes 50 CA.
That is all.
Loving thinking about and end product for “The Crucible” for this year’s group. Character as purpose and how Miller defined ideas through them. Still thinking it through but excited about it.
Challenged my honors students to stump me with questions from Ch 13-14 of _The Scarlet Letter_.

I won.
Never felt busier during any of the other 51 Octobers I’ve lived through will only mean this month is going to blink.
Do I place a YES ON 50 sign in my front window?

Non CA peeps- redistricting a la texas et al.
Every teacher leans into a novel or play (any text, really) in their own way. I am loving the mix of _The Pearl_, _The Scarlet Letter_ and “The Crucible” so much right now. While it’s exhausting shifting plans from one to the others, there is a symmetry found in the challenge.
Used to take a TON of pics.

Most of the labs.
Then I deactivated instagram and…
Bikes. Canal. Ducks. Group rides.

Way less pics.
If I owned a restaurant I would not skimp on the Heinz ketchup.
Not sure why but I feel content right now. Soup for the dogs is close to done. Cargo bibs washed and hing to dry. Dinner prepped and close to cooking. Content.
I just want to ride a bike.
Fun rides coming up… Big Bear gravel, MCCLA via CicLAvia, Party Peloton, Phil’s Fondo choc chip, and I’m leading a Joshua Tree century with SoCal VAM Nov 1. So much to look forward to.

And I did register for WTF 100 again. This time I will be sure to stay healthy and uninjured so I can ride it!
To see them embrace leaving my room… made me cry. Full hugging/walking head-to-head emotion. What a moment.
Made a parent cry during parent/teacher conferences today… shared that her super quiet and super shy student stood up in front of the class and presented their word to define this school year and other misc facts of themselves. It was beautiful and I told her how proud I was and the tears rolled!
Rest day for parent/teacher conferences. Earned today’s rest. Quads are tired.
Feeling inspired to refine my sourdough baking regimen. May even look to buy more local flour.

Looking into autolyzing dough and adding salt later in the process.
Need to learn how to introduce salt later in the sourdough bulk ferment process.
Why is anyone shocked at Evenepoel’s dominance? Nobody matches those legs in a TT in this era.
Dude recommended clorox for covid right?
