Rapha Festive 500 is stressful. 500 kilometers in 8 days… 311 miles. It’s a lot. I need 200 miles in three days and hope I will make it this year to continue the streak.

Why doesn’t Canyon offer interchangeable parts on some obvious fittings like road bike drops from the T-bar stem? venting

Part of me wants bullhorns on the gravel bike with the shifters and brakes at the end. How badass would that be?

Nothing with sourdough is difficult. It just takes time.

My goal this year for the Rapha Festive 500 was to complete it in three rides. With this impending rains beginning at the beginning of this challenge, it’ll just mean I have to plan accordingly. I only need five days to ride three centuries as none will be back to back.

Currently debating how much drizzle becomes too much drizzle? And do I trust the animated maps in the weather app?

The magic keyboard only works when the iPad is charging so I am more consistently running the battery down so I can plug and type. Still not enough cause to inspire a new purchase.

I wax.
I said it.
I wax my chains.
And I have two chains per bike.
A privilege for sure.
I do not take any of this for granted.
I wax.

It was Gatsby who said something along the lines of… it’s better to say what you want to do instead of doing it…

As a school or any institution what do you do about finals after an incident like today’s? Proceed with finals? Cut them short? Postpone?

Considering my secondary school site is heading into finals, this hits close. Nothing is more important than our well being. And ability to be home at day’s end

Drivers were not very forgiving on today’s ride. And the driver who opened his door as I was approaching apologized and realized how close he was to causing me to crash. Scary moment.

As “normal” as today was, it was actually filled with some wild. Cars blowing through stops. CHP pit maneuvers in front of my school. And not a lot of ducks on the canal. None on the morning commute. Maybe that was the omen?

And I had to tell my agent that my miles are going to bike rides or concerts. Truth. I mean yeah shopping etc too, but I bike commute and save a lot of miles on the road so something has to give.

I will forever remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and Juneteenth whether this current admin chooses to or not. June 14 tho… “flag day”…
The National Park Service will cut Martin Luther King Day and Juneteenth, two holidays honoring Black history, from its list of free entrance days next year. Visitors will instead get free entry on President Trump’s birthday, which coincides with Flag Day.

Student asked me what I did when I lost a dog?

Cried. For at least 10 days straight. Likely longer. I still cry for my Scout. Her loss was felt more than all the other human losses in my life combined.

With two labs at 13 and 14 and cancer affecting one, I am more prepared but never ready.

Ditched a lesson that I created and love teaching in my American Lit class… an interrogation following the events of Ch. 6 and Ch. 7 (I know…). Sometimes it is not worth the effort to achieve what is likely mediocrity and I want something more than that.

Post-ride relaxing is the best relaxing. Would rather be with MCCLA or Party Peloton peeps, but the backyard is quiet and labs are close by.
