So instead of requiring gas exporters to supply gas to Australian manufacturers at reasonable prices, the cost would be transferred to taxpayers.

Has anyone ever managed to call out Albanese et al when they say 'gas is an important transitional fue to net zero' when it just really will be needed domestically for industry and limited use at peak times, and not to sell several fucktons of it overseas like Australia mostly does?

The gas industry knows its days are numbered
It is running ads promoting "renewable gas" when it knows that such a thing doesn't exist at scale. It is applying to the regulator for accelerated depreciation as it believes its networks days are numbered

The market should concentrate on the carrying value of assets.
