So gross. Such an absolute embarassment that tickets are being handled this way.

We go at least once a year for apples, bookstore, cafe, etc. Unfortunately the orchard was out of apples(?!) today but we had a good time anyway.
bryandoppel.bsky.social
Wait. I was at that bookstore today. I saw that sign today! Were you there today?!

"Chatbots... are fancy wordplay."

Thank you @cjdenial.bsky.social. So many gems in this timely webinar.

Thanks, Tolu! Yes, Lillian recruited some students to share their Takes and I'm glad they did!

I did it. I removed Grammarly from my browsers.

From the outside looking in, y'all seem like a fun and thoughtful bunch.

Every time I interact with someone in the English department, I'm glad I did. Whether it's in a learning community about alternative grading or book club about kindness in teaching, or chatting with your Chair while we both wait for our Chinese takeout on Christmas!

Okay, it was Where the Crawdads Sing. I finished it last night and have feelings!
bryandoppel.bsky.social
I'll probably finish it tonight and follow up tomorrow!

I just wrote and deleted a post about a novel that I'm finally reading because: 1) I'm years behind on reading this very popular book, and 2) I know Bluesky is different from the bad place but I still worry about spoilers 😅

True. Unfortunately, I'm an emotional Lions fan who made the trade before both players' performances yesterday. Goedert & Jeanty for Laporta and Swift. Serious regret.
a man and a woman are looking at each other and the woman is saying do i regret it
Alt: Do I regret it? Yes. Would I do it again? Probably.

Okay but should I trade away Goedert for LaPorta in my fantasy league?

A combination of "haha that's not happening" and "haha what a silly little issue. Let me tell you about my chatbot."

@sbagley.bsky.social For example, the group laughed off the idea of bots teaching bots: professors using AI to write assignment descriptions, students inappropriately using AI to complete those assignments, then profs using AI to grade. When that is most definitely happening and should concern us.
bryandoppel.bsky.social
Haha yeah, I joined to try to voice some legitimate concerns. But there appears to be an unspoken agreement that "AI is good" and "Faculty and students should be using it" and I just feel like the rest of the group is so far that way that my ethics questions are not going to land.

I'm learning this morning that I'm not sure I belong on the "AI Enablement Committee."
