This has been happening for generations - It's not Millennial / Gen Z / Gen Alpha slang - it's AAVE / AAE.
(and for anyone interested in sociolinguistics of AAE who isn't already following @mixedlinguist.bsky.social, you should)
Almost every example of Gen Alpha or Gen Z slang has its origins in AAVE.
One day I'll stop being annoyed about it, but that day apparently is not today.
