Looks like there's a new slew of users showing up here from the other place and bringing a bunch of baggage with them.

Will share some moderation / blocklists I've been using in the replies to this thread. Not comprehensive, but they do make the experience here more tolerable.

Based on what morning “news” looks like on broadcast and cable this morning, there’s a huge opening for an actual news network not affiliated with any of them.

There are many commonalities between Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and this is not a good sign for our future.

“Parkinson’s is the second most common neurological disease in the United States, after Alzheimer’s; each year 90,000 Americans are diagnosed. ”
Scientists Thought Parkinson’s Was in Our Genes. It Might Be in the Water — WIRED
New ideas about chronic illness could revolutionize treatment, if we take the research seriously.

The Vanity Fair article with @kim.senate.gov @andykimnj.bsky.social sharing his father's Alzheimer's diagnosis is worth the read.

It's a horrible disease that I hope can be cured one day, though I fear with the ending of many Biden Moonshot efforts, that will only be more challenging.

"Operation Warp Speed" was a success and it's pathetic this guy won't admit that to his cult followers.

Dec 12 (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration intends to put a 'black box' warning on COVID-19 vaccines, CNN reported on Friday, citing two people familiar with the agency's plans.

Good on @mets.com for apparently moving on from Pete Alonso, I guess. They offered him a 7-year $158M extension last year (that he turned down) and then a 3-year $68-70M this week. He had several chances to be locked up as a Met, if he wanted. He clearly wants to move on.

Life-long Mets fan and ready to let Pete Alonso walk without a qualifying offer or any attempt to keep him. Playoffs is when you earn that money and cement that legacy. He’s done nothing so far. Dropped ball in foul territory doesn’t help his case.

Appreciate those who are listening to the President speak at the Pennsylvania casino, but I’d rather not give anything he’s saying added attention.

Instead of giving gold statue prizes to doomsday peace makers, we should give prizes to everyone who completes the available vaccine cycle by the time they are an adult. Then yearly prizes for those who keep up to date.

There’s a local cupcake bakery using every hyper local media outlet to complain sales are down & blaming not enough support for small businesses.

Many just seem to be choosing to spend less on these type of (overpriced) desserts.

Other small business food in area are not struggling this bad.
