This is the best essay I’ve read to explain how the technical reports about Chinese dominance in electrotech fit with a much broader intellectual reckoning with China’s emergent stature in all global affairs
"We have witnessed not merely the rise of another great power, but a fundamental challenge to assumptions long embedded in Western thought—about development, political systems, and civilizational achievement itself. We simply haven’t yet found the intellectual courage to face it."

#Alberta is going into the oil selling business. shorturl.at/wgKH8
It’s taking bitumen in kind and creating a marketing business, using borrowed money.

Just as a China has electrified heavy transportation.

The biggest diesel market on the planet is using less.
The Assumptions That Broke: China, India, and the End of Fossil Growth Models - CleanTechnica
Coal and LNG fell in China and India while BEV trucks surged. The energy transition moved faster than the models predicted.

This sets up as another #$B #Alberta boondoggle. What is the GoA going to do with the oil it takes instead of royalties, when the price of WCS, drops? Lose $ on the transaction, retrieve less $ for the treasury, while borrowing $ to run the operation!

Driven by huge growth in solar installations, renewable energy clears another milestone I was told was likely impossible when I first landed in Germany to report on the fledgling Energiewende in 2005
NEW | Wind and solar overtake fossil fuels in the EU power sector 🇪🇺⚡️

Our @ember-energy.org European Electricity Review is out today, showing wind and solar reaching 30% of EU power, compared to 29% for fossil fuels.

Here's what happened in EU electricity generation in 2025 🧵

French President Macron reported that a Russian shadow fleet tanker under false flag was boarded and detained.

This is the first time a European country took such an assertive role. Germany recently barred a Russian ship entry to the Baltic Sea.

"As global demand weakens, Alberta producers are among the most exposed," writes Milind Kandlikar and David Boyd in an analysis in The Calgary Herald. "That exposure is magnified by Alberta’s reliance on a single customer. Almost all of Alberta’s oil exports go to the United States."

Robert, I can't see who it is you are responding to, which means I must have blocked them for being boring, persistent, aggressive and wrong. But thanks for jumping to my defence! Of course I don't advocate banning hydrogen - I merely point out its horrendous economics and climate opportunity cost.
