Sometimes to pick striking lines from a poem feels like disclosing a spoiler. Beast You Are Who Calls to the Beast I Am is such a poem.
I mean how does Mai Der Vang do it, write gorgeous poetry after gorgeous poetry. Anyway, I'm so grateful for it and her new book Primordial (Graywolf, 2025)

Poets aren’t bad at self-promotion because we’re inherently humble, but because the habits that sustain poetry have very little to do with the habits required to promote it. Promotion can feel like an assault on the inner world by the outer one.
Poets, We Need to Talk About Self-Promotion
Why asking for support feels harder than writing the book

Hey, publishers, especially poetry ones, I need you to know something: As of April 26, 2026, universities will have to meet new federal accessibility standards, which means all assigned & suggested texts must be screen reader accessible. (Thread)

Still Friday, still raining, still time to donate and share. #WeKeepTelling #MutualAid
It´s Friday, it's raining- and most of us have a safe place to stay, away from the rain and the cold. Palestinians do not have this luxury, the situation is catastrophic and wishing it away won´t help. But you can help by sharing and donating, you can offer real, tangible help. Please do.

I did an accessibility course today at work re digital content, and was reminded that alt text replaces the image, & is not description—& wow. More of that.

Not “this is x poem” but the poem text.

Not “a painting” but what the viewer sees.

Not “a graph of x” but what information is communicated.
