In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

A MOMENT Across the highway a heron stands in the flooded field. It stands as if lost in thought, on one leg, careless, as if the field belongs to herons. The air is clear and quiet. Snowmelt on this second fair day. Mother and daughter, we sit in the parking lot with doughnuts and coffee. We are silent. For a moment the wall between us opens to the universe, then closes. And you go on saying you do not want to repeat my life.

MOLLY SPENCER ON MOUTH Amorak Huey's Mouth is an exploration-sometimes gentle, sometimes raucous—of one of the fundamental forces of nature: desire. In its quiet corners and its echoing sweeps, this collection returns to us our creatureliness and our (futile? noble?) attempts to transcend it, reminding us that our bodies were born "to crave / and end." Meanwhile, the planet burns. Meanwhile, all around us are the loves of our lives: people and music and landscapes and memories and new beginnings and "our dry lakebeds, / our impetuous affairs." Mouth can hold them all and, indeed, holds them out to us in a beautiful and tender rendering of both our absurdity and our magnificence. Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin. We need more stories about us and our culture. You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.

THEY'RE SAYING NOW THAT FEATHERS ARE MOSTLY LIGHT, THAT WINGS ARE MOSTLY NOT THERE But sometimes it's warm enough for the neighbor to stand in the field and brush out her horse's tail. She knows the sun slips through it. The horse, two-toned, is losing a winter coat, the day a world slipping through its own hands. Dusk will lead them out to a road that leads out of town, and she'll teach it how to walk this way, through shadow.
