when i started writing echolalia echolalia several years ago, i had no idea there would be a beautiful orange snake on the cover just in time for the year of the yin wood snake, surrounded by lush green in the form of Jia Sung's "snake eater" (2021). i'm very grateful for the gift of poetry.

So many bougie people are so bougie they have zero contact with people in need, struggle's just not part of their lives or their circle. They can give to officially vetted bougie charities. But they can't even befriend real people who have a lot less than them. They never know how to be effective.

Pro tip: use social media to meet cool people to do things you cant or shouldn't talk about on social media and then you can occasionally use socials to nod and be like "oh hey" and do bits and support each other's public stuff while having inside jokes and knowledge which is extremely fun and cute

It's not sustainable to pay for every newsletter and Patreon you want to support. I subscribe to MANY and I am going to have to unsubscribe to some because it is costing me thousands of dollars a year (over $3000). More collectivist options need to be developed.

I know it’s very popular at the moment but I think “enshittification” is insufficient a term for what’s happening right now. This is not a gradual diminishing, it is a leap off a cliff, it’s a system in free fall.
My employer, Dartmouth College, today boasts it's 1st Ivy "to launch AI at an institutional scale." It is doing this by partnering--"more than a collaboration"--with Anthropic, a company that stole the books of many faculty, me included, which many of us are suing.
