Seems entirely reasonable that my phone would be holding thirty gigabytes of miscellaneous “system data”, that doesn’t include the actual operating system. That seems like a good and sensible amount.

I don’t understand how this is even possible. Like there was not $77 billion worth of concept there. A tenth of that amount should have seen it through to completion with an extremely high level of polish.

I’d expect a $77 billion price tag on a crewed lunar mission, not a glorified video chat.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the "Metaverse" has lost his company more than $77 billion.

An actual decent FOI law change (rather than the friendless bill before the parliament now) would be to actually have some sort of penalty for documents of government that should be retained for FOI purposes but aren't (such as disappearing messages in certain apps)
"Albanese government staffers – as well as senior Commonwealth public servants – privately fume at what they claim are abuses of laws and practices surrounding transparency by people whose sole aim is to embarrass the government."
Exclusive: PM’s office directs lobbyists to use encrypted, disappearing messages
Multiple sources confirm the Albanese government has pushed lobbyists and industry groups to use encrypted messages and verbal briefings when proposing policy ideas, to avoid FOI and disclosure requir...

RIP Frank Gehry. You clearly just crumpled up a paper bag for that UTS building and left it to your staff to work out the technical specifications

the Victorian government amended bail laws to ensure that more presumptively innocent people are incarcerated for longer periods, causing more trauma and poverty.

The system is working as designed.

A Victorian lawyer says a "crisis" is unfolding in the state's jails, with remand centres so crowded prisoners are instead being kept in police holding cells for up to a month.

I can highly recommend being a financial accountant - nobody ever asks any follow-up questions
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Probably books
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor
