My official Burien Cat Lady 2025 general election endorsements:

✅ voted yes on all the taxes and levies- I hate our regressive tax system in WA but until we fix that I’m going to keep voting for more taxes because we desperately need the services they fund.

"The Urbanist elections committee doesn’t choose our endorsement based on lifestyle but it’s hard to find a candidate who lives urbanist values more than DeVito. He doesn’t own a car, traveling by e-bike & transit. He’s a KC Metro employee & former vice chair of the Burien Planning Commission."

Most folks know how passionate I am about street safety, housing, and transit. So it will come as no surprise how thrilled I am to have the endorsement of so many transportation organizations. Thank you so much for the support @theurbanist.org @seattletru.bsky.social, WA Bikes and Transportation4WA!

Wilson led successful campaigns to raise minimum wages in Tukwila, Burien, and unincorporated King County–those are the efforts for which Harrell gives all credit to elected officials. (In reality, Burien at least is STILL fighting against the minimum wage).

Kevin Schilling, the mayor of Burien running for state legislative office this year in Washington is an example of everything wrong with democrats. This assessment goes easy on him if you can believe that….

One of the CMs has a clear conflict of interest and is refusing to recuse herself from the votes. This is not how our government is meant to operate.

Tell them you want to know how the animals in the custody of your city and paid for by your tax dollars are being treated: [email protected]
The council is trying to bury this so CARES doesn’t have to address the issues publicly. We need people to tell council that you want regular oversight and transparency from your taxpayer funded animal control agency.
If you didn’t watch tonight’s Burien city council meeting, you need to! It was reported that CARES has failed multiple health inspections & the council never knew about it- including major issues like failing adequately vaccinate, isolate, clean, feed, & water dogs & keeping dogs in too small cages.
Oh look, this is extremely easy to find in the CARES contract - does this mean I’m the new city attorney????

CM Garcia gets thumbs for a discussion ICE and steps to require fed officers not to mask. Also requests a legal update on minimum wage which city manager says would have to be in executive session.
Deputy Mayor Moore thanks the mayor and city manager for their efforts but wants to sign on. Mayor suggests signing on with an additional request, gets thumbs for that.
I love how Andrade is saying $3M isn't that much for the state so she isn't for taking $500 a year because it's not enough.
lets council know they need to sign on by th eend of the year and the state will lose MILLIONS if we don't ... seems like they tried to hold the state hostage and failed?
Planning Calendar: Mayor Schilling asking for a discussion on the opioid settlement funds. Wants Burien to receive more.
Eff. CM Matta motions to table pending legal review. passed 4-3.
Acting city attorney is chiming in to say that the contractors can voluntarily agree to provide an update but can't be required to if it isn't in their contract.
Garcia agrees it isn't political for him, Matta says it is political but that's what they're elected to do!
Andrade is responding but is fully muted??
reminds CM Andrade that her reasons were personal not political (two dogs killed her goats brutally.(
Deputy Mayor Moore asking for a personal point of privilege about Akey's accusations. Saying she is not doing this for political reasons, she cares about animals and wants to know that animals in the care of the city,
Adds an amendment to include Recology, gets a second from Garcia, gets 4-3 vote to add them.
