I'm Rocco DeVito and I'm running for Burien City Council because I love this city! Burien is a wonderful, diverse community and we're proud of what we've built but know many folks are struggling. I want to work with you to make our community a place where everyone can thrive!
"The Urbanist elections committee doesn’t choose our endorsement based on lifestyle but it’s hard to find a candidate who lives urbanist values more than DeVito. He doesn’t own a car, traveling by e-bike & transit. He’s a KC Metro employee & former vice chair of the Burien Planning Commission."
Most folks know how passionate I am about street safety, housing, and transit. So it will come as no surprise how thrilled I am to have the endorsement of so many transportation organizations. Thank you so much for the support @theurbanist.org @seattletru.bsky.social, WA Bikes and Transportation4WA!
I'm proud to be a member of ProTec17 and to have the support of so many labor unions! I'm happy to stand with my union siblings to fight for working people, tackling affordability, housing, and safe streets! Thank you for the support #mlklabor #protec17 #ufcw3000 #seiu6 #teamsters117 #atu587 #iam751
Absolutely insane that the protest was routed across 3rd Ave and they’ve blocked all buses for 45 min. Who at the City authorized or planned this?! Total transit gridlock, prepare for crush loads and schedule mayhem for the rest of the day!

Great advice for all voters - return directly if possible:

“To ensure that your ballot counts this year, it’s vital that you return it using a drop box so that it goes straight to your county elections office”

#waelex
Are you a PNW voter who usually returns your ballot via U.S. Mail? Switch to a drop box to ensure it counts this year!

Do not return your ballot through the United States Postal Service -- there's a real risk it won't receive a timely postmark.

It’s imperative that Burien welcomes new neighbors in all our neighborhoods, we need to all contribute to meeting our housing goals and keeping services going for all residents!
That’s a good looking cow! It makes me think of an old food truck that had this beauty…the arc of the condiments!

On one hand, reducing car use reduces urban pollution.
But on the other, everyone likes it and cities become more livable
While not the same degree or scale, we have a great program in WA State to connect and support young dems/progressives who want to get involved in local/state politics in some way! I loved it…it should be grown into a national program and in every state imo! democraticfuture.org

Be gay, make your neighborhood more beautiful and safer for pedestrians.
Nearly 100% of US raisins are grown within 60mi of Fresno, CA.

Bonus: 90% of US grown frozen raspberries are from Lynden, WA.
Great book! Borrowed it from the library to try to learn more about the resistance to rezoning our city 😆
Something like rank choose could be a good change, eager to see how Seattle’s goes in a few years or move toward that for the whole county!
I’m sorry I didn’t answer the second question. Candidates picks for themselves anytime up to the end of registration in May. It can depend on a bunch of things, for me it was wanting to replace the person in my seat but also some incumbents hadn’t decided to run or not so part of it was practical!
Hello! Yes I’ll be on the November ballot since there is just two of us. Kevin and Edwin do have a third person, but my understanding is that my race is non-partisan whereas the leg seats are partisan so there are separate dem and rep primaries Evan if there is only one or two candidates!

Thank you for coming out @mlklabor.bsky.social!! I can't thank you and all the union folks that showed up today to support us because, I know that when we fight, WE WIN!!
Another great Labor Neighbor canvass this morning in Burien and the 33rd LD! Union members are making sure our voices are heard at the ballot box.

I’m working hard to replace our conservative councilmember who would do just this to our homeless neighbors. She’s already passed laws to ban them from the city limits. We need to provide services and stable housing for people exiting homelessness, not jails and institutions.
We know what works, and it’s the opposite of this.

This agenda can’t be enacted without the cooperation and compliance of local counties and cities.

It is your responsibility to either make sure your mayors and councilmembers oppose this, or work to replace them with people who will.
And now, an executive order that calls for the involuntary institutionalization of the homeless and mentally ill without due process or clear release criteria. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Opening the public right of way to people walking and rolling is always a winner for local businesses and communities.

Another two great canvasses this weekend! Union members are ready to elect leaders who will stand with workers.
I’m using my bike to run for City Council so we can have safer streets so more folks can walk and roll in our town!

This is framed as "lessons for the left," but Lander and Mamdani actually offer lessons for the center: Instead of ruthlessly undermining leftist candidates, emphasize shared values and refuse to amplify right-wing attacks.

The New York City mayoral primary showcased a better kind of politics than progressives are used to.

It’s a place where liberals and the left pretty much agree and we should be working together! Happy to chat offline about Lift/fare policy because there’s lots of stuff to unpack there.
