Harrell's office bristled at the suggestion that the flurry of proclamations, orders, and celebrations had anything to do with the election (which he lost to Katie Wilson), and the city's ethics office didn't seem to care, but the fact that he was using his office to campaign is pretty clear.

Amtrak's annual ridership was up 5%, hitting an all-time record high of 34.5 million rides nationwide over the last year. Amtrak Cascades also hit a record high, reporting 1.4% growth and coming in just short of crossing the million-ride mark for the year.

If you're wondering when Eddie Lin, Seattle's newest Councilmember, gets sworn in: the answer is tomorrow, following the official certification of election results today.

But without a council meeting this week, the ceremonial swearing-in (with speeches and such) will take place next Tuesday.
