Having done repeated tests, i feel I am now ready to share my version of Felicity Cloake's perfect malt loaf recipe. The original, for reference, is here:

How to make the perfect malt loaf
Felicity Cloake: Do you eat your malt loaf plain, topped with cheese, loaded with butter or, heretically, toasted? And what other malty recipes float your boat?

(having slept all day since coming back from Tassie) well, Foo Fighters were brilliant. Would go again without hesitation.

Tassie is also nice (or Launceston is), if only it wasn't so fucking cold in winter.

I love that despite the New York Times becoming a mouthpiece for Trump and MAGA, Trump still shits all over it every time he posts.

You'd think they'd have learned by now, but nope.

Every day when I wake up and go to check the news, there's a little lurch of dread in my stomach.

I mean, sooner or later Trump has to cross a threshold of insanity that even the Americans can't put up with, right. Right?

(feel free to envisage this as a Padmé/Anakin meme)

Attempt 3 of malt loaf is now in the oven, this one with the malt syrup and treacle (molasses) weighed instead of spooned. I must say it was much easier. Proof of the pudding is in the eating, however.

Starting to feel my blood pressure rise when I go to a random website and there's a little window in the corner with a sparkles icon and a chat message that starts "Hi! I can help you..."

Literally any random people off the street would have been better and less awful than this bunch of idiots, war criminals and grifting arseholes.

the European mission to Greenland was fourth in the BBC news running order this morning, which feels a bit like doing a light "and finally..." item about the archduke's motorcade taking a wrong turn in Sarajevo

Weird dichotomy in my head between 'scientific process to make the perfect malt loaf' and 'is Europe going to have to go to war with the US?'.

Searching on Amazon for solar lights, and the search autocompletes with 'outdoor' as a suggestion, and I'm now intrigued by this cohort of users who want to exclude indoor solar lights from the search results.
