Land use does not prevent gentrification, it causes it. It causes housing prices to soar due to scarcity. It is weaponized to prevent social and supportive housing from being built. It is weaponized to keep poor people concentred and away from the rich.

Closing bus stops just because they’re dangerous isn’t a solution. It perpetuates the problem, actually.
The real solution is structural: providing permanent supportive housing, investing in psychiatric care facilities, and having a local government that gives a shit.

We shouldn’t accept that a CEO killer must get a national manhunt when cops don’t solve most murders at all. A migrant teenager was just murdered in NYC, cops just killed a guy here — the lives of these other people are worth just as much as that CEO.

Imagine if our country functioned
It took only ~2.5 hrs for the National Assembly to gather a majority of members (190 of 300) and generate a unanimous vote (190 of 190) to vote down the emergency martial law. The law says the president "shall comply" with parliament's vote, but doesn't specify a time frame.

The new Seattle City Council passed their first city budget, greenlighting the mayor’s plan to slash investments in affordable housing and social services in order to boost police spending by 16% and close a large deficit without raising new taxes.
