Building housing is a left issue.
Taxing housing to build housing means less housing.
Less housing means more pressure on your housing market and higher rents.
Build the housing. And don’t let NIMBYs stop or slow us downs

Honestly they should have jail time for reckless endangerment! I totally agree with the sentiment of course but the Overton Window has shifted so far on automobiles that violence has been normalized and manslaughter has become an acceptable cost.

I will never understand why townhouses, aka row houses aka brownstones aka the kind of single family home common in many cities, are classified as multi family homes. The new build single family houses have maybe six feet between them, space that could be INSIDE those houses if they were connected.
It’s honestly wild how few townhomes exist that aren’t right near a highway. We force every bit of density right next to noise and pollution, and keep the quiet areas reserved for the rich who can afford detached houses.
I can’t emphasize enough how ridiculously inequitable & regressive this is

When house owners talk about how they bought houses due to the "small neighborhood feel" what they mean is "a place where I don't have to see or tolerate renters" because renters are relegated to busy, filthy arterials outside those "small," "quaint" neighborhoods where they own property.

First homebuyer problems in Van… it’s pretty sad that about 70% of the housing options I can afford would basically require me to also get a car to commute to work 🙃 and it’s allegedly a buyer’s market! I have more options than usual…

This is so disappointing. This means us poorer folks that can’t afford luxury detached housing is still artificially blocked from nice quiet streets by archaic city zoning.
Ken Sim and ABC have voted to bury Lucy Maloney’s motion that would have brought six floors and corner stores to side streets across Vancouver, unlocking thousands of family-friendly homes.

I really hate the “housing prices are disconnected from local incomes” framing because people immediately jump to “must be NON-LOCALS with more wealth that’s the problem.”
When the problem is largely that we haven’t built enough. Higher local/regional income households are outbidding you.
