The more info we get about this raid, the worse it becomes. ICE had NO valid warrant (administrative warrants do not authorize forceful entry into a home), the guy's sole prior conviction was a since-dismissed drug charge from 2008, AND he had checked in with ICE just days earlier.
Immigration attorney: The arrest "during a Minnesota immigration crackdown that the Department of Homeland Security has called its largest enforcement operation ever, was a “blatant constitutional violation,” since the agents did not have a proper warrant..." www.minnpost.com/public-safet...
Attorney: No proper warrant for Minneapolis man's arrest in home
The arrest of Garrison Gibson came in a city increasingly on edge after an immigration agent shot and killed Renee Good last week.

You might have heard the study is still on. But an HHS official told me they were still working on the design - an unusual move, after the award was already granted - and Africa CDC said it would only move forward if it's changed to be ethical, essentially making it a different study.
Update: An HHS official told me after publication that the protocol is still being updated. “This study is going to proceed as planned,” the official said. But major changes would mean the trial would not proceed as it has been described so far. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

For anyone confused about this, “verbal assault” especially in this instance means “getting yelled at” and is not, in fact, assault.

She got made head of our wildlife and fisheries department because Jeff fucking Landry is very close with Corey Lewandowski and through him, Kristi Noem. It’s why he was a witness to her swearing in. He doesn’t care about hiring qualified people, he cares about political favors.
Madison Sheahan is a 28-year-old former political aide to Kristi Noem with little law enforcement experience before being named ICE Deputy Director. Prior reporting said she was mocked internally as "fish cop" because she somehow got made director of Louisiana Fish and Wildlife in 2024.

It’s worth noting that the children’s mother is not deterred. In fact, she’s activated.

Of course she is. She had to perform CPR on her INFANT. These monstrous displays of violence aren’t going to be the show of force they hoped would cow the people impacted.

I remember when Mark and I wrote this up, we thought: we’re not trying to be alarmist, but this really does sound extreme. We couldn’t get anyone to publish the article. In hindsight, it turns out that we were not alarmed enough.

Multiple American citizens in Minneapolis speaking on NPR on condition of anonymity because they are “afraid of government retaliation,” and I just gotta say, that’s not sustainable for a U.S. government. Like, Americans will not put up with that cloud of fear long.

US government's policy toward the Big 3 automakers—encouraging them to invest in massive, US-only SUVs & trucks, now encouraging them to underinvest in EVs—has reinforced their global irrelevance.

This is a deanship that has already proven *extremely* difficult to fill over the last 5 years or so. Firing the incoming dean over an amicus brief is tantamount to saying you don't really care if the law school can continue to function.
The University of Arkansas's law school just withdrew the appointment of its new dean six days after hiring her because conservative politicians complained that she filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of transgender students

Your regular reminder that there is no legal path from martial law to suspending elections in this country.

That doesn't mean there is no path. It just means that we need to reject the framing that the federal government has any legal authority to cease elections.
