I'm being invited to express my cinematic noir mood right now. This is it.

That's a fair take put that way. My main point was just that the committee was in part aiming at Trump (award worthy = work to take down a dictator) & the fact she's not anti-Trump (at least nominally pro) gives them cover to do it. It's fair to tweak what I said to make that point better.
cade76.bsky.social
As for sharing the award with Trump, my first theory is that she's pandering to his ego to dissuade him from pushing some retribution against herself or Venezuela over it (tariff increases, more "cartel" strikes, etc.). I'm open to hearing other theories though.

You mean she's not actually a Trump supporter?
The committee didn't know her statements?
The committee isn't picking her in part to troll Trump?
You don't think MAGA or Trump will accuse her/committee of being Trump hating?
Trump won't likely respond with "who?"
Which part do you mean is the reach?
cade76.bsky.social
And she actually supports Trump, which kind of ironically maybe makes the choice even more anti-Trump in spirit, b/c he can't say it's just a lib conspiracy to reward a Trump-hater. It's what she does. (That'll be lost on him, but it doesn't matter what he says anyway. He's only going to say "who?")

That said I agree that media play an important role, and Americans need to recognize what's actually happening on the ground for politics to function properly.
cade76.bsky.social
The majority of Russians are highly depoliticized & take corruption for granted, nothing to be done about it as long as it doesn't disrupt them.

That's what we should try to avoid in the US. Most MAGA are still highly charged, which can be a good thing when Trump inevitably betrays them too.

That's some Touhou energy right there. 💥💥

We're still calling Trump just a "pedo-protector"?
If we know only one thing about Trump, he's a Trump-protector. When Trump said of Ghislaine "I wish her well", I think the last thing he cared about is her or her well being. It's himself. It'll be nice when we can talk about that openly already.

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

It really is staggering to see so many people willing to abandon our 249 year experiment in democracy for an increasingly unstable criminally convicted reality show charlatan.

Back in December I made a checklist of Project 2025 objectives, and basically all of them are checked by now. I thought even then it's not worth trying to convince people that are delusional; just strategize to defeat them at the polls. But if anyone wants to feel vindicated, to each their own.

Influence.

It's about the only lever of influence Congressional Democrats have over anything happening by the administration & Congressional GOP. It remains to be seen what if anything comes of it.

Good point here by Michael Wolff that the Dems lost an easy win because they didn't think to condition the gov't shut down on releasing the Epstein Files. It's the one thing we know that Trump is weak on, and they should keep hammering it. The script writes itself. "It's the Epstein Files, stupid."

I just saw the first "Trump 2028" signs out in people's front yards today. Fuck's sake.

Fantastic, our president literally put 14-88 into his speech to our military today: "You know, we had 11,488 murders by [foreigners that Biden let in]". (Source in link.) I mean, his campaign number from 2015 to 2024 was 88022, "Heil Hitler, Victory", so it's nothing new. It's just sad as sad gets.
