Medical debt should not exist - and yet it’s one of the top reasons Americans file for bankruptcy.

Any healthcare plan that doesn’t start with the recognition that medical care is a basic human right grossly misses the mark.

Those who were born at the top of the wealth ladder are always trying to pull it up behind them when they ought to be building a bigger ladder. Oligarchs fear fair competition and will do anything they can to avoid it.

It goes against our nature as human beings - most of us want to help others.

An income tax exemption for stockbrokers, pro athletes, doctors, lawyers, and rock stars? It certainly looks that way.

The Trump Admin's official guidance for 2025 tax filing appears to illegally open up the "no tax on tips" exemption to "Specialized Service Trade or Business" occupations (SSTBs).

Imagine you were sharing an apartment with a roommate, who was expected to kick in half of the rent and utilities. You create your personal budget with this arrangement in mind. Then, months later, your roommate decides they are only going to pay you 1/3 of the shared costs.

Government services are for everyone, and perform functions that would be impossible, impractical, or unethical to provide for profit. Policing, education, transportation infrastructure, parks, emergency response - none of these make much sense as for-profit enterprises.

Remember that immigration raid in Chicago in September - the one where 300 agents stormed an apartment building in the middle of the night, detained 37 immigrants and several more U.S. citizens for hours, including screaming children, and brought a TV crew along with them to film the whole thing?

The President has called for the arrest, trial, and execution of 6 Democratic members of Congress. This is beyond the pale. He is inciting violence against political opponents - all of whom served our country in the military and intelligence communities.

I was proud to join with my Democratic colleagues this morning to introduce the Clean Water for Wisconsin legislative package.

Whether it’s PFAS, lead, or any other contaminant - we need to make sure every Wisconsinite has access to clean, safe drinking water.

WI is 1 of only 2 states that doesn't guarantee low-income moms health coverage for the 1st year after birth.

Today, Assembly Dems tried to force a vote on a bill that would change this, but despite overwhelming bipartisan support in the both houses, Speaker Robin Vos blocked it.

Politicians have no business telling you what medical care you are allowed to have. Yesterday, the Republican-controlled State Senate passed a bill that would redefine what an abortion is under the law. The only reason to pass a bill like that is to pave the way for an abortion ban later on.

Did you know that the most recent Republican state budget provided a $0 increase to General School Aids over the next two years? This is the largest source of state dollars for our public schools.

Adding insult to injury, over 70% of districts will receive fewer dollars than they did before.

A panel of judges in Texas has blocked the implementation of Texas' new Congressional maps, indicating that they appear to be an illegal race-based gerrymander.

The maps were drawn at the request of President Trump to add 5 more Republican votes in Congress to implement his extreme agenda.

The President and elected Republicans across the country are doing their best to scapegoat immigrants, but our communities are pushing back.

The Palmyra Police Dept was poised to become the 1st in WI to allow its officers to interrogate people about their status and make fed immigration arrests.

Wisconsinites are increasingly choosing to go electric when purchasing a new vehicle. In fact, EV sales were up 13.4% year-over-year in the 2nd quarter of 2025.

Sadly, Trump attempted to illegally withhold tens of millions in federal funding for Wisconsin's EV charging network.

The avg home sale price in the Milwaukee area in October was $437,000, and yet some legislators think $7.25/hr is a perfectly acceptable minimum wage.

A minimum-wage worker could spend their entire salary before taxes on a mortgage and still not come close to affording a home in this market.

Today, Trump rolled back his excessive tariffs on coffee, beef, bananas, tomatoes, and more agricultural products, effectively admitting that he himself caused their prices to go up.

The WI Legislature has been starving local gov't of resources for decades, and has provided few tools to make up the gap.

One tools is the VRF, or "wheel tax." As we saw in Cudahy last night - where a proposed $50 VRF failed to pass - adding fees to local property taxes is extremely unpopular.

When I talk about private voucher schools being unaccountable, it makes some people very mad. But how do you explain this:

All Wisconsin public and private school choice schools must administer the Forward exam every year. Public schools had a participation rate of close to 98% in 2025.

The federal government shutdown is over, and insurance premiums on the ACA Exchange are going to skyrocket for millions of families.

In the short term, Republicans absolutely should do the right thing and extend the Biden-era subsidies that made these plans affordable for so many.

For-profit utility company We Energies has a built-in incentive to build, build, build. Their investors are offered a 9.8% ROE for new power infrastructure in 2025/26. Wouldn't you know it, WE Energies just applied for $5.5 billion in new energy spending, enough to power over $2 million homes.

Hidden in the U.S. Senate bill to end the government shutdown is a provision that would ban hemp-derived products like THCA, delta-8, HHC, THCV and CBD nationwide.

In WI, this means 100s of small businesses, 1000s of jobs, and millions of dollars of economic activity are at risk of disappearing.

Our military veterans represent the very best of us. Today, we honor those brave men and women who have put themselves in harm’s way for our freedoms time after time after time.
November 11, 2025 at 6:57 PM
The bill to reopen the federal government, currently awaiting a vote in the house, contains a provision that would allow Senator Ron Johnson and others to sue the government for at least half a million dollars.

Today I was proud to join with colleagues, including Representative Darrin Madison and Representative Ryan Clancy, in introducing the Conditions of Confinement Legislative Package.

President Trump has pardoned WI's fake electors and the attorneys who advised them in their efforts to overturn the 2020 election in our state.

This largely symbolic move has no effect on the state charges and civil claims against the individuals in question.
