I assume this is by the sewage treatment plant? It’s a great segment of the Bow pathway? You gotta be strategic with your bird watching with all the uh, smells emanating from the plant 😂

Yeah, I’m not quite sure why the BIA is on the offense for those above grounds… they’re mostly used by 9-to-5ers who are just gonna dash in and out of the office, but maybe it’s the story of our downtown: everybody wants it to be better, but can’t shake the car sewer bit..

oh yeah, I take a lot of newbs out there and it's nice to see how many make it up to Oesa/Opabin. Slow and steady!

I love me some hardcore backpacking, but O'Hara is great for the overnight campground and light day pack, especially since the 9 and 12 yo are coming w 😝

Good transit is like good government: the best are dull but well managed. Really need more of that, especially in Alberta.

Funny, I remember there was a pilot at some of inner suburban neighborhoods and some of the private businesses providers… dunno if it got far.

I have noticed some of the suburban stations have a handful of the bike container lockers… would be curious to see if there’s usage.

Big time… it all kinda falls apart when you factor in bus connectors. Got plenty of friends who would like to C Train it to work but bus service to stations is abysmal.

Toronto used to have the same problem, but invested heavily in buses and light rail to increase ridership. Plenty more work to do.

Lived at 3rd and Centre years ago and those above-ground parking lots just sucked the soul out of the entire block.

Walked by there this afternoon: still a parking lot, opportunity massively missed.

Wasn't AECOM supposed to have a detailed design by now? 😬
NEW: The City of Calgary is opening public engagement on the proposed downtown alignment for the Green Line LRT.

The proposal calls for an elevated LRT line from the Event Centre down 10 Ave S and running up 2nd St SW.

Aaaand... now it's closed, to the surprise of no one. Well done 😂 #yycbike
LOL... 311 sent it on to Calgary Parking... that'll fix it. Sigh. 😜 #yycbike
Is there a 311 to put in flexi posts or something? 🙄 #yycbike

I just picked up running again and yup, that's my first slow-down area for the very same reason 😂

Yeah, I've made it a habit to do a big detour there on my way home from work... usually get a snap of that amazing view of downtown from the Zoo Bridge.

I don't think any newcomer to the city appreciates what an amazing job the city did for this whole area after the old Zoo Bridge was retired.

I still love that park and am a big fan of the design, just hoping we keep the maintenance going, especially when CMLC transitions maintenance back to the city...

Maybe I find it a bit triggering because I just remember they used these metal rails for the classic Pedestrians-must-cross-on-other-side signs you still see in some places 😅
February 9, 2026 at 4:45 PM
All in all I'm a big fan of the project, but the stupid stuff you see with poorly thought-out snow clearing and the design compromises for cars (and pedestrians) are annoying.

I kinda vacillate between frustration with the entitlement and the indifference of the project teams.

I work in the project space and the feedback you get and action during the warranty period can make or break how the project is perceived.

Same, I frequent the restaurants while I'm at my client's site all the time... on foot.
