I was reminded of a comics trend back on the old hellsite, so I'm bringing it here.

Tell me about #FourComics that made you fall in love with the medium. Use the above hashtag.

Here are my four, with explanations for each in the alt text.
The cover to The Death of Superman TPB, with Lois Lane cradling a bloodied Superman. When I was about 15, I heard the news of Superman's death. I kind of knew about comics, and bought a few Transformers comics, but it wasn't a regular thing. I asked for Superman #75 for Christmas. Well, Mom couldn't find it, so the comic shop suggested the TPB, instead. I was immediately hooked. Not just for Superman and his lore, but with characters in the Justice League and others. I started collecting Superman titles. The advertising in those issues pulled me towards Batman: Knightfall. And it eventually got me reading the Zero Hour event, my first crossover event. It also created my preference for collected editions over single issues, a preference that continues today. Through the Superman books, I also got to try the Milestone comics via the World's Collide. The cover for X-Men: Age of Apocalypse, the Complete Epic. It features various X-Men characters in strange, alternate universe forms, like Wolverine missing a hand. I'm not a big X-Men fan. I'm still not. But Age of Apocalypse absolutely hooked me from beginning to end. It's a phenomenal event and relatively self-contained. I knew X-Men from basically the cartoon series and it still largely felt accessible for me. I wound up continuing to read X-Men comics up until the end of the Onslaught event crossover. I was especially a fan of X-Man, which continued after this event, bringing a young Nate Grey into the main universe. I still dabble in X-Men comics once in awhile, but nothing will ever hold a candle to this. The cover for Zero Hour TPB, featuring multiple DC superheroes. Ah, Zero Hour. By this point, I was knee deep in reading Superman and Batman, especially. But so many other crossover issues interested me. Robin, Superboy, etc. I also bought a lot of #0 issues, trying out all kinds of new books that looked interesting. This was my first major crossover event and I loved every minute. The conclusion to this also got me hooked on reading Green Lantern. I also tried other spin-off comics like Starman and Manhunter. The cover for Amazing Spider-Man #375. Spider-Man and Venom wrestle with each other. My first Marvel comic, and it was a strange roundabout way of discovery. I was hanging out with a friend from school, playing Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge. I recognized most of the bosses, from watching the old Spider-Man 1960s cartoon (the 90s one wasn't out yet). One boss showed up who I didn't recognize. My friend freaked out. "Dude, that's Venom! He's awesome!" He told me all about Venom. Wanting to know more about this Venom, I stumbled across this issue on the newsstand. As luck would have it, Venom's own miniseries, Lethal Protector, started not long after that. I became obsessed with anything related to symbiotes, which led me to buying Maximum Carnage. This got me regularly reading Spider-Man comics for years, long into the infamous Clone Saga. I gave up on that event before it ended.
