I guess Star Trek never refers to starfleet as a navy? Star Wars is a special case anyway because it's science fantasy in another time and place so Imperial Navy fits the tone

Just occurred to me that some sci-fi uses 'astrogation' because navigation derives from the Latin navis meaning boat/ship and technically means travelling in a waterborne vessel

Gonna start calling my sat nav 'autogation' to annoy people
