And oh, I guess I’m sooo dumb for following the only Blender acct around, back when I joined bsky, after I saw that a bunch of other CG ppl I know/respect were already following it. I haven’t delved into those tools but use a couple more modest ones like Grid Modeler (by Kushiro) & trying to get the hang of Creative Flow & Random Flow (by Blender Guppy).

But too often I sort of… forget addons exist and find myself manually suffering through the process.

Fascinating work here tracing how the IDF recycled 3D assets from a cyberpunk sci-fi art project, the Scottish Maritime Museum and elsewhere to populate its widely-seen models of supposed enemy locations in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. One of the most infamous, the alleged underground Hamas command center at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, used to justify an unprecedented assault on the biggest medical center in Gaza, was actually an animation the IDF had used the previous year, saying at the time it was a tunnel beneath a UN school.

That Blender is free is pretty well communicated. But also most paid addons the community makes are outrageously inexpensive. There's always some wiz kid with like, a one-click infinitely variable scifi cityscapes generator - $15 (or whatever you think is fair), commercial use, free updates forever.

I honestly think someone screwed up in the mastering process and accidentally did the OPPOSITE of a gentle home theater compression.

And now it just gets blindly passed around streaming platforms in this unlistenable state.

What is up with the streaming mix of Heat (1995)? I know theatrical mixes have crazy dynamics everyone hates, but rewatching it on a few diff platforms in recent years... it's totally busted. With all auto-leveling features on and volume cranked ALL the way up, it's impossible to hear the dialogue..

Considered one of the most influential Italian poster designers, Casaro leaves behind a legacy of hand-painted artwork for thousands of films, including such classics as Conan the Barbarian, Octopussy, and A Fistful of Dollars.

He was 89.
