with these lists, i've come to expect (disappointedly) that they'll put "best movie that technically qualifies as a comedy" higher than "actually funniest movie," and this one certainly does that. but then it does stuff like put an Adam Sandler movie on there. but then makes a bizarre pick for that!

Now that I've finished it, among other things, it does stink of one of my biggest pet peeves about lists like this-- that so often, "Good, Respectable movie that can periodically be funny" is elevated above "actually the funniest movie"
But on top of that, some of the pure-comedy picks are baffling

also, The Big Lebowski 72 and Fargo 8 is so bizarre - Fargo was their most critically-acclaimed film to that point, and it's a great film and certainly has its funny spots, but Lebowski is far funnier and arguably the most quotable comedic film in history.

everyone remembers "Is Butterbean okay?" and for good reason, but just as funny to me is when he tries to return the rental car he entered in the demolition derby with the explanation "Yeah, I hit a dog."

yeah, the South Park movie is my favorite of the three-- but it doesn't have the Respectability of critiquing American imperialism. And the Jackass movies are the complete opposite of respectable but so damn funny. Not just the stunts, but Knoxville is a born star and gets some killer one-liners.

I’m getting to the point where my only reaction to headlines like this is “no they won’t”
And it should be said that a huge part of this is that following those right-wing manosphere guys' advice is going to make you MORE lonely and alienate you further from ordinary people-- which is what they count on, then they can tell you society is the problem and they're the only ones who get you.
