Looking at what the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber thinks a mural is worth really tells you what they think about the creative industries in Seattle.

@seattlechamber.bsky.social why are you sponsoring a “mural contest” with @dicksdrivein.bsky.social ? Muralists and illustrators are all small business owners, and this practice actively devalues our profession. How was this in line with your mission of creating a vibrant business community?

I think a pretty good heuristic for a good TTRPG is how long it takes you from when you sit down at the table as a player until you get to your first meaningful choice of the session: If it's more than ten minutes, you're probably in a bad game.

Garfield and Friends reminds me what a profoundly different world the early 1990's was: The cultural idioms, the mundane annoyances, the uneasy anxiety the presaged the arrival of cyberspace... truly an orange cat at Fukuyama's end of history.

Grabbed a copy of Mothership TTRPG from @chanceencounter.games last night, and was not prepared for how incredibly thorough and well-thought out this game was going to be. The Warden's Manual is one of the most solid guides to running any RPG since Blades in the Dark.

Ah yes, one of my axiomatic rules of Seattle: if the Seattle Times editorial board tells you to do one thing, you should generally do the opposite.
why the fuck is the seattle times editorial board so concerned with how other people do their jobs
I will never understand this obsession with mandatory in-person work. people are happier when they have some flexibility and aren't chained to a commute!

Good. Instead of counting on the MSM to do the job for you, all of the Democrats at all levels on politics should be putting out their own media.
The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

Excellent, excellent analysis 🧵👇
You know, there are several reasons why that one editorial about Katie Wilson is particularly revealing.

It unintentionally reveals a schema, to a hovering between capital c and small c conservative, of what a leader is supposed to *be*.

all of this is intended to portray katie as a loser womanchild who is in over her head.

but it also reveals what the writers consider basic signs of competence: owning a house and car; not needing help in any aspect of your life, however expensive; being a manager.

This is exactly the headline you want to see if you're Katie Wilson. There are still some voters who were anxious about her "experience." She kept saying she'd have good, experienced people as part of the team and that's exactly what she has done. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
