I fell into writing a MG fantasy novel because this idea hooked me years ago, and I finally accepted that it's not going anywhere. But I haven't actually read that much MG, and I don't like to write in a genre I haven't read much of.

So, question to all of you. What are your favorite MG novels?

My story seems much less interesting written down than when I came up with the idea. I'm hoping it's normal at first, but either way, I'm surrendering myself to the Gods of First Drafts. It might be a terrible book in the end, but it'll be a book.

Coming up with answers to thorny problems is one of the BEST parts of the process. Even if we could leave aside the environmental damage and fundamental lack of ethics, these people are advocating for taking away half the fun of writing.
