Blimey! Also, I wonder where these schools are where under 7s are sitting on the carpet for 2 hours without moving…
Phonics causes constipation.

Heard it all now.
Primary-age child constipation rates up 60% in England and Wales

Well this is hardly surprising is it, with children from reception sat in front of bloody phonics and maths PPTs for hours on end 😫🙄

Effective assessment systems should be honest and free from distortion—progress measures can compromise both. @jpembroke.bsky.social proposes tracking methods that generate better insights into school standards, especially for those needing extra support. Read it here: https://buff.ly/4jh0IWj

Lowering standards or simplifying curricula is 'a patronizing and dangerous attitude, cloaked as kindness, that assumes certain people are capable of less because of their race or background'. George W. Bush (NOT my favourite) called this the soft bigotry of low expectations. #EduSky

Errrm…. @stulock.bsky.social we’ve been properly outdone here!
Looks amazing, Jon. Have the best day x

Sweet vindication! Have never been able to get on board with constant (or even regular) water swigging. Haven’t shrivelled up yet! 😅

This is a really interesting thread where @mrarobbins.bsky.social does some thinking about teacher motivation. Looking forward to hearing what else you come up with, Adam.
#EDUSKY Thread: Why deliberate practice and habituation might accidently lead to reduced teacher motivation.
There is a strange phenomena in teaching. In some cases new teachers join the profession and over a few years we teach them all the best ways to do things and they become amazing teachers...

CLOSES TOMORROW

Last chance to submit your evidence, views and experiences to the curriculum and assessment call for evidence.

Specific examples are particularly helpful, as well as specific justifications for adding, changing or removing.

All submissions welcome!
Just a little nudge that the best way to have your views heard is to submit to the call for evidence.

I massively appreciate that you’re insanely busy and it’s a long survey (you don’t have to respond to every question!).

But this is a big opportunity for positive change…

I couldn’t be happier or more grateful that our children’s future is in the hands and hearts of people like @ashleymartin26.bsky.social

A very special week in the company of restless, kind and thoughtful school leaders.
Last week was one of my favourite weeks I’ve had in teaching. Learning from incredible school leaders and visiting some of the best schools in the country was so inspiring. I’ve loved discussing the visit with our amazing @leadeast100.bsky.social and the very brilliant @jonhutchinson.bsky.social

This.

This was the shot I was hoping to get of Comet Atlas, with me standing on the stones of the Giant's Causeway. And last night I got the chance. The comet is fading fast, so I'm not sure I'd have had many other chances. Delighted this one worked out!

Came here to say this! ☝🏼 It’s likely to be heavily weighted by sector.
Definitely think it’s crucial to plan own r/w/m lessons (with support from strong specialist background work e.g. mtp) but beyond that, using something pre-designed that you can adapt for your ch is a often life saver in primary.

Cassie! Fine, both of you. Enjoy the cold. I’ll just be cosy over here with the very few sensible people in this thread.
