If Dem senators vote to extend the DHS CR again, they are instantly going to lose a tremendous amount of support from their base who have been in wait-and-see mode on this. I can only assume Dem senators considering this have completely lost touch with their voters. Don’t do it.

They are a neuroscientist, a software engineer, a laboratory assistant, a registered nurse, and an economics major. All were facing deportation.
Plaintiffs are five Haitian TPS holders. They are not, it emerges, “killers, leeches, or entitlement junkies.” They are instead: Fritz Emmanuel Lesly Miot, a neuroscientist researching Alzheimer’s disease, Dkt. 90 (Second Am. Compl. (SAC)) ¶ 1; Rudolph Civil, a software engineer at a national bank, id. ¶ 2; Marlene Gail Noble, a laboratory assistant in a toxicology department, id. ¶ 3; Marica Merline Laguerre, a college economics major, id. ¶ 4; and Vilbrun Dorsainvil, a full-time registered nurse, id. ¶ 5. They claim that Secretary Noem’s decision violates the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), 5 U.S.C. § 706(2), and the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The Government counters that the Court does not have jurisdiction, and, in any case, the Secretary did not violate the law.

On this point I will note, in addition to Gabbard’s presence, a few other anomalies: 1. The Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Atlanta field office (which would ordinarily oversee this search) was removed six days ago 2. This search was reportedly managed by FBI headquarters and overseen by the deputy director (which is unusual) 3. The U.S. Attorney handling this case is not the one currently serving in the Northern District of Georgia, but rather the interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, who has a “special appointment” from Attorney General Pam Bondi for this case 4. Trump has been especially fixated on his claims of voter fraud in 2020 since the U.S. invasion of Venezuela (on January 3): He tweeted this conspiracy theory the day after, and in an interview with The New York Times on January 11 lamented that he regrets not having the National Guard seize voting machines 5. We happen to have the former head of state of Venezuela — one of the countries that allegedly interfered in the 2020 election, according to Trumpworld, in U.S. custody. You do the math. 6. The statute of limitations for the alleged crimes has passed. That means they can’t prosecute anyone criminally. The only purpose to recovering these ballots is to use them for some forward-looking plan.

Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com
