My favorite story about Takeshi's Challenge is that the developers basically went drinking with Kitano and wrote down everything he said while he was plastered, then tried to implement it, which is why it's such a horrific mess of a product.

This whole soundtrack is just Motaoki Takenouchi flexing and effortlessly conjuring a whole orchestra out of FM and PSG. It's unbelievably accomplished given how far out of the console's usual comfort zone it is. The two minute thirty non-looping ending theme is probably the most magical for me.

If you ask me, people too caught up in pixel art reverence. I too prefer sprites or 2D animated stuff, but it's not like we don't have thousands of games a year looking like that already. Specially metroidvanias. Even God of War now is a 2D pixel art metroidvania.

It did have a more desaturated and dark visual palette before the WayForward makeover. I thought it looked good already but now Miriam's thighs and other details pop up more.
I never understood the visual complains of the game either. It looks fine, specially for a low-mid budget 2.5D game. 😅

Galactic Racer was easily one of the highlights of last night's State of Play. As my buddy @tapirfortuna.bsky.social noted, it looks like Star Wars: Motorstorm. Love the aesthetic, camera work, speed and designs. Hope they nail it!

The new Castlevania might be good, I'm just very distracted by the most interpolated Live2Dcore walk cycle I've ever seen in my life. Even though it seems like a 3D game.
