Take a juvenile form of humour, misunderstand the point of that form, and then render it utterly pointless.
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

Just watched Dumb Money with Paul Dano (always a joy). I'd totally forgotten about the Gamestop shares thing.
I love that those retail investors took out several billionaires and closed their businesses.
And poor people made life-changing money 🐱

Tonight's film is... Gothic. It's Ken Russell doing Byron, Percy, Mary and Polidori, so complete chaos incoming.

With lovely, taken too soon, Natasha Richardson and Julian Sands 💗

On taxing billionaires: “If you went back a million minutes, you would be back to January 2024. If you go back a billion minutes, you are in the Roman empire. That’s the difference between a million and a billion.”

Mind-blowing. Billionaires wouldn't even notice the amount he wants to tax

When you think your short story is pretty much done but your beta reader comes back with a bunch of great notes and they're legit those things you considered but were too lazy to figure out.

It's so refreshing to hear sense in politics. And a focus on the ACTUAL issues 💚

Update: I binged the hell out of this. There's lots of forbidden love yearning and I had no idea how Guinness shaped Dublin.
The characters have layers, so I'm invested.
Watching House of Guinness. It's pacy nonsense. Not as good as his usual.
As much as the anachronistic music worked so well in Peaky Blinders, I find it intrusive here. Not sure why bc I like some of the bands.
I wish it had done the Warrior/ Creature Commandos thing of playing on end credits.

I still haven't had one of these, despite being one of the faithful. Alas, our rituals do not reach these Nordic lands.

I hit London 20 Dec for 9 days - @blackforestcult.bsky.social a gathering?

Northern Irish country singer on making it in Nashville
Country music might be the most American of sounds but for 25-year-old Northern Irish singer songwriter Gareth, it's also the sound of home.

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

Tonight's film is... Ballad of a Small Player. It's the new Netflix thing with Colin Farrell & Tilda Swinton.

So far, it's got the Netflix sheen - lots of neon, taking full advantage of Macau's lights and glitz.

Of course Farrell is eminently watchable as the down on his luck gambling lord

Never. I'm always surprised at how casually people use CGPT and use it instead of Google.

I even put "-ai" on my searches. Why feed the means of my own destruction?!?
Hands up if you've never used Chat GPT ✋

(I feel like Dozer and Tank in The Matrix right now - at first I didn't use it because, rather ironically, I'm lazy and stubborn (peak Taurus energy there) - literally no, don't make me use the new thing I don't wanna. Now I'm glad I didn't 😅)
Probably a good way to tell right now if the job you’re applying for is run by absolute dumbfucks is to ask if they’re using AI.

So I opted out & instead went for House of Dynamite... the other nuclear war film.

It's mostly in the White House & bunkers with lots of jargon like "GBI's launched, Sir, but no word on the EKVs."

Generally it's just about the absolute lunacy of nuclear stand-offs.
Finishing it tonight.
Oppenheimer... is it worth the 3 hours?
I've started it but not sure 🤔
