Hell yeah new @chatpileband.bsky.social song! It’s called Masks!
No not Mask…or Masc…or THE Mask.

Anyway, it’s great! The riff sounds very post punk.

My old church in Eden Prairie MN, Wooddale, blocked me on IG because I asked how they were supporting their community where people are being terrorized by ICE. I’m honestly not surprised, because that kind of behavior is why I stopped going there in the first place!

So apparently all the big Evangelical mega churches around the Twin Cities have started this thing where they’re praying at 7:14 because of the 2 Chronicles 7:14. That’s one that shows up heavily in Christian Nationalist circles. But notice how much they focusing on staying in and praying.

Did all these fascists read about what's happened to every fascist government throughout history and go "Nah, I can do it better. That won't happen to me." Did all these mega-billionaires who exploits people for wealth go "Nah, I can do it better. That won't happen to me."
I'm sure they did, too.

I love that this is making the rounds again. This plus the Halloween Blizzard of 1991 is like the main bit of lore every Minnesotan will brag about
A good time to remind everyone of the Minnesota First. One of the earliest state militias to volunteer to fight in the Civil War—three years after joining the Union! Provided one of the essential turning points at Gettysburg. Took the flag of the Virginia regiment they captured AND STILL HAVE IT.

Help these ladies keep their neighborhood safe and warm up with a cup of tea! They could really use it today, while their neighborhood is blighted by white supremacists. The Venmo ID for Cedar Riverside Protection Alliance is CRwork26. Thanks @wedge.live for the great suggestion and Venmo info.

She deserved so much better.
A really sad follow-up to this story — Alexis Erlinmeyer, one of the trans federal intelligence workers who was fired, has died of a pulmonary embolism. She was 31. Her family is burying her under her deadname, so friends are fundraising for an accurate memorial: www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-...
NEW—In late Feb, Chris Rufo published leaked chats between queer/trans employees at US intel agencies. Then Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said she’d fire all involved.

I spoke to chat members who were fired, are on admin leave, and who kept their jobs about the new lavender scare:

Everyone who was involved in targeting those boats did a crime, pretty much.
Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

What’s the D incentive to play ball when the Republican Congress has (and will) make no effort to stop the executive from flouting the appropriations process?
Exclusive: Hundreds of travel businesses, including casinos, hotels and convention bureaus, are asking Congress to end the shutdown, citing worries about the holiday travel season.

These gen z overthrows are pretty interesting. After decades of historical/global studies, my first concern is whether the opposition groups can avoid military dictatorships or fundamentalist groups filling the power void. Would love to hear more from better regional experts.

The Trump administration’s deployment of ICE and others in the mass deportation effort has led to more violence and turmoil, and less safety and security for all, including US citizens. But that’s a feature not a bug. The chaos justifies further authoritarian crackdowns. The chaos is the point.
