Good start. Now let's talk about state funding during the upcoming legislative session and an eviction moratorium.
Rental assistance hotlines in the state say calls for help have skyrocketed this year. Some callers say they’re not going to work because they’re afraid they’ll be detained by ICE if they leave the house. Others say a family breadwinner was detained, leaving them struggling to pay the bills.
Minneapolis allocates additional $1 million for rental assistance
The City of Minneapolis will allocate $1 million in funds for emergency rental assistance, as families impacted by the ongoing federal immigration operation seek help paying bills.

Fascinating, DOE is working around regulation by editing Department Orders, apparently without opportunity for public comment.
EXCLSUVIE: The Trump administration has secretly rewritten nuclear safety rules and shared them with the companies they're meant to regulate, without making the new rules publicly available.

We've obtained a copy of the new rules and here's what we found.

The Trump administration has secretly rewritten nuclear safety rules
The rewrite was done to speed up the construction of a new generation of nuclear reactors. Critics warn it could compromise safety and public trust.

Absolutely. I have never, ever, heard anyone say this in real life. It's a myth (a RACIST myth) that gets repeated by national news only. People call the neighborhood Cedar Riverside, full stop.
THIS, ALL DAY. We call it Cedar Riverside. Everyone just calls it Cedar Riverside. And we go there, regularly, for all sorts of reasons: there are theaters in that same neighborhood, there's a college, there's a music venue, and there are some excellent restaurants.
We go through this every few years: NO ONE HERE CALLS CEDAR RIVERSIDE LITTLE MOGADISHU

(today in the NYT / a twitter exchange from over seven years ago, though this has been going on for ages)

Judge Schlitz is not exactly a firebrand and in no way a liberal judge. This is remarkable.
👀 Judge Schlitz, the chief federal judge in Minnesota, has ordered the head of ICE, Todd Lyons, to appeal personally in court Friday and threatened him with contempt for the agency’s repeated violation of court orders.

In case you missed it, Congress passed funding for most federal science agencies, with most receiving shallow cuts, just slightly less than under Biden. This is a HUGE repudiation of the administration's war on publicly-funded science (and a repudiation of DOGE in particular).

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

Can’t believe this even has to be said but peaceful protects are legal. These arrests are complete bullshit.
Confirmed w civil rights attorney Nekima Levy Armstrong's lawyer that she & Chauntyll Allen were arrested by federal agents this morning in downtown Minneapolis. Armstrong participated in the protest Sunday at a church where a pastor leads the local ICE field office. Pam Bondi tweeted the arrest.

Help these ladies keep their neighborhood safe and warm up with a cup of tea! They could really use it today, while their neighborhood is blighted by white supremacists. The Venmo ID for Cedar Riverside Protection Alliance is CRwork26. Thanks @wedge.live for the great suggestion and Venmo info.

ICE is making the police department’s job borderline impossible. They’re actively causing a lot of chaos AND they’re frightening people into a level of non-cooperation that is unsustainable. MPD has issues but has spent years trying pretty hard to rebuild some trust; feds are torching it for fun.
If you're a cop, you probably also are concerned about how shitty things are going to be for you entirely because of these assholes, even after they're gone.

Trump is clearly not well.

At a meeting with oil industry CEO’s Trump suddenly interrupts his introductory remarks, gets up and looks out the window and starts talking about his ballroom. Trump then realizes his mistake and says “unusual time to look”, and sits back down to continue.
