Drawing this book in particular helped with A CRAZY time in my life. But hey, I got to flex Supes! Regardless of what was settled on this cover, I still think you didn’t need to see Supes face on this image. That his powerful presence and popularity could survive a partial silhouette with an “S”.

Well who didn’t have fun with THIS book! I got the gist of extra-corporate dialogue in drawing this part of the mini… that when drawing Supes in another universe, there would much in the way of push/pull control. Lots of stress but still.. I got to draw “women’s romance novel” Supes.

Every cover I’ve done has had some kernel of inspiration and there’s two facts here: this was the first cover I ever penciled and inked in a professional capacity and thus cover was inspired by The Untouchables Movie poster. Wise Son as Elliot Ness. I’m sure Wise would have had an issue with it.

Another commission for the same NightWing client who also wanted The Summers of the X-men in one shot. I went more commercial with their images and no real concept but to just get to draw them. But I hope he likes it. Coming to him very soon.

It’s great to be reminded how much fun I had doing this book. A lot of my works are leaning more digital nowadays. It’s just easier to not have to hoard a ton of paper in the office but I do jump around from digital to hand drawn page work. And that’s the cool thing about progression, right?
After taking a long trip around Dallas & Fort Worth I finally have my own @chriscross.bsky.social original art pages from one of my favorite runs Captain Marvel. #ComicArt #ComicSky
