He was such a great artist. Stand By Me is one of the great interrogations of American masculinity. I liked it as a kid when I saw it in the theater but I cried as an adult when I watched it w my son.

I think I may finally really truly be approaching a point where I can enjoy a gig based purely on the doing and be comfortable evaluating its musical quality only once I hear a recording, if there is one, with some remove. Nigh impossible to do both in the moment.

Saw Mulholland Drive at #PhillyFilmFest for the first time maybe since it came out - certainly the first time I’ve seen it on the big screen since then - and I had forgotten how hilarious that film is, in addition to all the other things it is. I LOL’d multiple times.
