Plumbing is now fully operational! Success. After five weeks I can finally use the water any time, without having to turn the main on/off.

The girls are now out of their carriers and Mimo suddenly has no idea who Blini is, so lots of hissing and howling. A preview of my travels coming up on Friday.

Met this delightful pup when I ran out to grab croissants for the plumbers.

Work in progress and the girls are behaving themselves for the most part. Mimo is in her cat carrier and Blini wants to poke it a bit for...reasons. Blini still keen to get involved with the work but thankfully the sliding door is jammed due to the water leak so she can't budge it.

Proud to be European 👏
BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

Mimo just scared the hell out of the plumber. She was hiding in the space in the wall where the water main is located, which is a new location for her. He reached in to shut the water and she burst through the hole and ran by him. He had no idea what was going on! Mimo now hiding under the sofa.

Plumbers have arrived!
November 25, 2025 at 8:11 AM
In theory, today is the day! Plumber arrives in around two hours and everything should be properly functioning by the end of the day. Then it will be time to dry things out and clean up the mildew from the water.

Blini will want to stick her nose into what the plumber is doing, Mimo will hide.

Have to do some sanding before the plumber arrives. Mimo is here to help. I would be lost without her valuable assistance.

Mimo is curled around Blini's head and Blini is enjoying it. (The cat leg on the left is Mimolette's back leg.)

The Economist is consistently terrible and wrong about pretty much everything. They fawn over the worst people, support wars around the world and every bad economic idea that the right can crank out. When it blows up in their face, they pretend they never supported it.
Imagine looking at record profits, record executive pay, and record inequality, and concluding: yup… the minimum wage is the problem.

Plumber arrives to replace the cracked pipe tomorrow (only 5 weeks!) so clearing everything for space. I also discovered something that was ruined by mildew that I hadn't noticed before but thankfully the contents were protected and not damage.

I'm gently reminding Blini that we already discussed the subject of sofa scratching. Somehow she seemed to forget it's a definite no. Maybe it slipped her memory.

Yet another reminder to stop using anything this guy owns. He's toxic and everything he touches is toxic. He cashes in on other people's misery.

During the Montmartre artist open house weekend I went into a building that used to have shared toilets in the hallway. Not too many of these left and most have been converted into storage space.

Perhaps the risk is being hyped a bit too much for social media but I'm always looking up at windows and doors to see if they are straight or sagging. When I'm walking around Montmartre, there's a lot of sagging!

Even in my modern (1990s) building there are fissures since the Romans mined here.

Snow overnight and the jungle (my inside terrace that's packed with plants) was covered in snow. I saw photos from last night and it looked nice but it's been raining for a while so nothing is left.

Temperatures rising again.

Christmas tree season everywhere this weekend and stores were all busy.

Pretty sure Blini heard me when I told her to stop scratching the sofa. I can officially close this case since it won't happen again.

You know tourists are around when you see this place. Looks modern and fancy but very ordinary products with tourist prices.
November 22, 2025 at 8:08 AM
I definitely see this bias in local reviews. There are a few local boulangeries that are mid at best yet they get great reviews. They also happen to be popular with tourists. Same with restos.

Wild how the bonkers MTG had a career leading the violent crazies against Democrats and a few weeks after getting a taste of her own medicine, she quits. She's also walking away with a government pension and her stock portfolio is worth around $25m. (She was already financially comfortable.)
